Soil Sense Consulting ————

About

Meet West Lambert

“Our mission is to empower land stewards to build healthy, resilient relationships with their land—fostering stewardship that nourishes soil, ecosystems, and communities.”

West Lambert is a conservation planner, agroecologist, and soil health advocate dedicated to helping farmers, ranchers, and landowners better understand their land through a systems-thinking lens. With dual degrees in Natural Resource Management and Sustainability, he combines academic rigor with nearly a decade of field experience to provide practical, actionable guidance.

West has supported diverse producers through his work with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), managing a Tribal Conservation District, and in regenerative consulting roles. His background ranges from dryland wheat systems and livestock-integrated perennial systems in the Columbia Plateau to diverse mixed vegetable production back east, always centering the principles of soil health, holistic management, and ecological resilience.

West’s consulting approach is rooted in:

  • Listening first – understanding your values, goals, and unique operation.

  • Making science approachable – translating data into decisions.

  • Supporting the whole system – soil, people, profit, and planet.

He is particularly passionate about working with underserved and underrepresented producers—including tribal producers, veterans, women in agriculture, and beginning farmers—who often bring unique perspectives to the land.

Based in eastern Oregon and serving the greater Pacific Northwest, West works to help land stewards build both soil wealth and ecological literacy. His vision is simple: land stewardship that honors relationships—between people and place, profit and planet, past and future.
